Our Philosophy

At Medication Advisors we recognize the value of every person and are guided by our commitment to compassionate care. Our pharmacists are knowledgeable in traditional pharmaceuticals as well as open to alternative forms of medication and healthcare. It is our mission to provide our patients exceptional individualized care and to educate them on options that may improve their quality of life.

Medication Advisors believes in the importance of all patients having a clinical pharmacist as part of their on-going health care team, to ensure safe, effective and cost-justified medication therapy while providing patients and their providers with the most current, evidenced-based recommendations and education.

Dr. Miki Finnin is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, licensed in Oklahoma and Minnesota, and the founder and owner of Medication Advisors.

She graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy in 1998, with both a Bachelor of Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and went on to complete a primary care residency through Auburn University School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Finnin credits her time with the Mobile, Alabama based residency as the spark that turned into her fascination and love of geriatric medicine.

“During my residency, I routinely went on house calls where many of the patients were elderly. I was shocked and saddened by the living conditions of many of the homes we visited. Often, we would go to homes in low-income neighborhoods and we would find that the houses did not have air conditioning or proper ventilation, and as Alabama summers are distinguished by extreme heat and humidity, the homes often were 100 or more degrees inside. This confined heat is not only unsafe for the elderly due to increased risk of dehydration, but also presents a risk when storing medications as high heat can degrade medications rendering them useless, an issue that can be quite serious if the intended person is taking the medication for a heart condition or infection, as an example,” explains Dr. Finnin.

After finishing her residency, Dr. Finnin focused her career on geriatric pharmaceutical care through in-patient and out-patient clinical settings. Additionally, she has served as Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Auburn University, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, University of Minnesota, and University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Finnin is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, Oklahoma Pharmacists Association, Oklahoma Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and Association of Colleges of Clinical Pharmacy.
